The Western Roman Empire fell in around 100-500 C.E. The fall of the Western Roman Empire was a large historical event. There were many contributing factors to this fall. In the next paragraphs those reasons will be explained. To begin, the Western Roman Empire’s military was very weak because it had a lot of problems finding solders and supplying the funds to pay for their military needs. According to document 5 it says that the reason there was a “military crisis” was because there was a “lack of children” to grow up and become soldiers. According to document 3, which was not a very reliable source because it does not state where the information is from, how old this document is or what kind of authority the author had writing this document. I have no idea if there is any bias here because I am not sure who the author is and if he would have written with an opinion. This document says that as I said before “the money went into the maintenance of the army” the expenses of doing this “lead to straggling taxation.” In document 6 it said that part of the reason why the “economic progress ceased” was because “the empire ceased to expand”. These facts from documents 3 and 6 show that the Western Roman Empire’s economy struggled as well. They show that because the army was weak, it cost a lot of money to maintain it. The documents also said that when the Empire stopped expanding, the economy took a turn for the worst. As mentioned before there was a lack of children which could have been a factor in why the empire wasn't expanding because without future generations, the population of the empire would soon dwindle down to nothing.
