The more we grow, the more powerful we will become, it is a fact of life. It is under manifest destiny, that the US must move westward into California, but now the country must spread overseas to become powerful, successful, and rich. Hurting other people, and taking over land that does not belong to them, the US single-handedly annexed a good portion of the Western hemisphere under President Theodore Roosevelt. His aggressive personality, and his views mixed together to make America a country that is strong, a country that is an enemy of others, and a country that has grown immensely due to Manifest Destiny. This expansion to the United States walked over other people and their countries, and started unnecessary wars. The expansion annexed countries that did not want the help of the US, but now needed to abide to all of their laws. Countries such as the Philippines had to listen to a leader of a foreign country over 8,000 miles away. For the people of these countries now controlled by the US, they had hopes that the US would be kind and give them freedom and independence as time passed, unfortunately, they were wrong. The US was greedy, and power hungry, striving to be recognized as the most successful countries in the world. The United States’s expansion is not justified because of the way they annexed smaller and less powerful countries for the sole reason of empowering the United States.
