The cooperating teacher was a pleasure to work with because she welcomed me on day one and she introduced me to the students in a way to show the students that I was also the teacher in the room. She used the technique of speaking very softly and nicely to the students. She established excellent rapport with her students. That has allowed her to work with her students as a facilitator instead of having to do much discipline to get their attention. I was able to notice that the 4th and 5th grade teachers were very disciplinary.…

When I start attending De La Salle (DLS) I was surprised by the focus on community, an attribute I had never seen in my public middle school. There are different circumstances that influence us to be successful or do well in school, and I believe one of the factors is what kind of school we are attending. Throughout my three years in middle school I lacked the spiritual and the community togetherness, but once I start attending DLS it was something different. I started to see the connections of the community. Attending a Christian school not only gave me knowledge of the Bible and our spiritual strengths, but also helps me to connect more with the community and people that are around me.…

Observing at the schools this semester was very rewarding. It gave me a chance to get out in the field and experience how a classroom operates. Observing gave me the opportunity to look at the classroom from a teachers eyes and not as a student. As a student I had no idea that a teacher had to have classroom management, I really didn’t even know what classroom management consisted of. But observing gave me the chance to really see what classroom management was, if the teachers had good or bad classroom management skills, and what they did to incorporate classroom management.…
