West Warwick High School Parking Case Study

At West Warwick High School there's construction on the field house and ice rink, the Town of West Warwick has decided to implement a ban on parking at the West Warwick Civic Center for students at West Warwick High School. The parking ban will begin on the first day of November and run throughout the upcoming school year. There are many complaints being said about how it would ever be possible to deal with this situation in fair way. In result, to listening to these complaints I created a Decision Making Matrix to help figure out the problem and make the best decision for everyone. I had to list the four alternatives which were first come first serve, parking, wants and needs, and seniority. Then, four criterias for these matrix and the criteria I came up with which would be equal to everyone was equity, social cost,social benefit, and freedom of choice. First of all, the criteria plays a huge role in determining the best decisions, the first criteria is equality. The alternatives are affected by first come first serve which with this everyone has a chance to be equal and fair to everyone, parking cost is that people may not be able to pay for fees, wants and needs this gives different treatment to every individuals and all depends on the individual's needs which will not be a good idea with equity, and lastly is the seniority which does not help because it is limited space for senior and juniors and more students will not have spaces to park. Next, is social cost and this is not affected whether it is first come first serve or parking cost because they each are dealt with themselves because whoever gets the parking spots
