Founded in 1992, Wesley Community Services (WCS) fosters and supports seniors seeking to remain in their home for as long as possible through the provision of essential home-based services including Meals-On-Wheels (MOW), specialized transportation and home/personal care. Wesley also has a Pet Portions Program (PPP) which offers free pet food for client’s pets and PetKare program (PKP) which offers vouchers for veterinary services for clients' pets. WCS provided services to approximately 2,300 seniors and individuals with disabilities in 2010 and continues to grow each year. Rather than calling multiple services, Wesley’s is designed to setup services on a need base for the elder population and disabled who qualify for the services. Wesley delivers MOW, offering both hot and chilled meals to the elder people setup for the service on a daily and weekly basis. The food is delivered by 9:00 a.m. The meals offered support the elderly who require a particular diet such as cardiac, diabetic, renal, puree and a regular diet. The independent living resource helps the elderly with budgeting, bill paying, banking, and applying for government programs. The transportation offered provides safe door-to-door transportation to physician, dentist and hospital appointments for seniors who can no longer drive. Before application process, the case managers from either COA or the NKADD depending which state the applicant lives, will conduct an in-home assessment to make a final determination of a potential client’s qualification for the program. There are no charges for MOW but clients are asked for donations if they can afford it (suggested donation is $60.00 per month). These services are intended to help the elderly patients live in their home for as longer possible.
