In the year 1952, WESCO started out its name in Michigan by Mr. Bud Westgate as its founder. Mr. Westgate started the business by building up a small cement block building having also bought 3 gas pumps which were already used for the cost of $75. With this small business, it has expanded into a huge company having 51 convenience stores operated in all areas of Michigan.

The expanded company, WESCO, was owned by the Westgate brothers, Mr. Bud Westgate’s sons, namely, Jim and Jerry. For three decades and a half, the brother’s worked on their vision of maximizing the company’s field by providing better service as well as promoting the growth of the company.

How the Company Expansion Happened

During the mid 80’s up to the 90’s, the company became twice as big as the original expanded company through their acquisition of the Weaver Oil, which has 19 stores, and Rengo Oil with 15 stores. WESCO expanded and grew over time. The company now operates and owns propane businesses with the name WESCO

Some company stores offer to serve sandwiches and pizzas.

The company also has a bakery situated in Norton shore, Michigan, where fresh donuts, cookies, muffins and many pastries more are being baked every day. Many of WESCO convenience stores have bakeries inside serving freshly baked bread and pastries.

WESCO is also operating deli locations which are located in these areas: Fremont, Grand Haven, Belding, New Era, Roth bury and Whitehall.

The company received praise and awards, which made WESCO labeled as one of the 101 best and Bright Places to Work in at West Michigan. The award was given for 4 consecutive years (2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013).
