Were you ever told anything unusual about your birth?
I was told and now know that my twin sister and I were born 10 weeks early. I weighed 3lbs, while my sister weighed 2lbs 14oz. We were in the hospital for two months, each in our own incubator and when we were released we had to rely on oxygen that was facilitated through tubes in our nose. Apparently, it was a rough battle from birth until the time we turned two, but somehow we both fought through our struggles together.
Are there any family stories told about you as a baby?
Again, since I am a twin none of my stories are necessarily about myself because my sister and I were and are still very close. We are constantly reminded that we had our own language that no one understood besides Ashley and I. For instance, Ashley would utter some sounds and I would immediately go and retrieve a toy that she wanted. Our family had no idea what we were saying, however, they were able to see that we were able to successfully communicate with each other even when we did not know how to speak. …show more content…
My sister and I were put into a room together and we found out how to help each other out of our cribs. Once we were out of our cribs, we found our grandmothers large box of photographs and started throwing them everywhere. Eventually, our grandmother heard us and was furious, but now she tells us this story with a smile on her face. Still, to this day she has a box of unsorted photographs, which I feel bad about. Also, when we all lived at my grandparents’ house, my sister and I found a bag of powdered sugar in a low cupboard. We ripped it open and threw it at each other, we started in the kitchen and somehow made our way all the way to the family room. Our grandmother tells us how much of a pain it was to clean it up, but she laughs about it
