The colonists were justified in resisting British policies after the French and Indian War because they considered themselves British citizens whose rights from The English Bill of Rights were being violated, their Social Contract was being violated, and they had tried to compromise with the British government but they wouldn’t compromise. First, the colonists considered themselves British citizens living abroad and as citizens they were protected by the English Bill of Rights. But their rights such as no standing army during times of peace were being violated. Second, because the ideas of a Social Contract said that if the government violated the rights of the people, colonists had the right to replace the British government with a better…

The american colonist were right for declaring there independence from the britain. First because they had to already had to pay taxes for every week or so but know they charge taxes for more stuff that should've never got tax. Because they had to pay taxes for mostly every item they wanted to get. Next reasond is that they had to pay taxes for if they were wearing something. Because the british wanted the American Colonist to pay taxes they started to pay taxes for if they were wearing color or wearing that top of shirt they would go in collect taxes from them.…
The founding fathers were justified when they rebelled against the British government. Because the ended up making a great nation, and they were taxed for no reason, also they rebelled because they felt it was the correct path to take these are some reasons why the founding fathers were justified in rebelling against British rule. The founding fathers built a great nation and they were able to achieve that by declaring independence from British rule. They were far ready to be their own country instead of having this burden to deal with every single day of their lives that burden being tied to Brittan.…
After putting all these facts together and actually realizing all the things that went on, I believe that it was correct of Parliament to try and control their fairly young colonies but I believe they tried to impose too much and control too many things. For example, I feel that the Quartering Acts were not good duties to apply to an already rowdy and rebellious colonial organization, this gave Americans yet another reason to sever ties with the motherland. So for that reason and obviously for the over taxing of colonies, some of their actions were justified but not all of them. Specifically, I believe throwing all the tea into Boston Harbor was rather drastic as well as beginning the Boston Massacre. I know most people see it as the troops…
In making the decision to rebel against the British, the colonists were time and time again presented with reason as to why they should retaliate. John Adams, Abigail Adams, and Thomas Jefferson's considered their rebellion a “noble cause” that was morally, politically, and socially justified. For John Adams, there was an immense social justification for America’s emancipation from Britain. This is because John strongly advocated for the selection of leaders based on character, education, experience, and principles, but Britain’s rule over the states was a complete tyranny.…
The first reason they were justified in declaring independence was that the colonists felt that they had to rebel. They felt it was the right thing to do, and that they had to do it. This is written in the declaration of independence as "The laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them". The second reason was that the king treated the colonies unfairly.…
Road to Revolution The American Colonies were justified in waging war and breaking away from Britain because of the unconstitutional laws placed on them by the British Parliament; as well as the tyrannical rule the Britain enforced over them. The American colonialists had every right to rebel against Britain because of the unconstitutional laws being enforced over them by said Parliament. The Stamp Act was a law passed by the British Parliament on the Colonies in 1765 which required a tax to be paid for the approval of any printed and sold document; such as: newspapers, playing cards, legal documents, posters, etc.…
Isabelle Blouin 9/7/16 American Studies Essay England's Fight for Freedom Freedom in England before the 1700s was not prevalent. There was no equality between the social classes and no similar rights. To have any sort of status or privileges, one must be wealthy, own land, or be a descendent of royalty. The lack of equality among the people brought on many challenges such as economic struggles and the lack of respect people had for one another. Landowners, the wealthy, and those considered royalty ruled the country of England.…

Long before any blood was shed in the Revolution, Americans were establishing ideas in their minds concerning breaking away from the British Empire. As early as 1774, the Colonists met in the First Continental Congress in response to the British taxation and limitation of Colonial Representative Government. As stated by Benjamin Franklin in his draft of a resolution for the congress, “there is a manifest defect in the constitution of the British Empire in respect to the government of the colonies upon those principles of liberty which form an essential part of that constitution.” Franklin demonstrated that the colonists, before any fighting began, already had the idea in their minds that the existing government was failing to preserve their rights as British citizens.…
The British empire had to increase revenue in order to recover from the enormous debt it had accumulated and it also had to gain control over a recently doubled in size Empire. The answer to these problems came in the form of a series of taxes and acts on the colonists. However with every act or a newly imposed tax without representation, the colonist began to put their own differences aside in order to unite against a common enemy in the British. Most of the colonists had come to the west with the promise of self governance and having some separation from the Empire, however due to the social and economic constrains placed on them after the war, the colonists were left with no choice but to fight for their independence by means of the American Revolution, leaving England’s attempts at greater control…
