Wenyuan Characteristics

Superior Essays
Among all the stories I have read during these two weeks, Shao Wenyuan is a true hero to me. After comparing Wenyuan with Feng Yen and woman ninja, Wenyuan’s heroic characteristics stand out from all the other Heroes. I appreciate Wenyuan for the following reasons: first, he did not bear grudges and could think positively. In addition, he could be able to keep a calm attitude while dealing emergencies. Most importantly, he is warm-hearted and being considerable to other people, and he did not care much about money.

Wenyuan is a true hero, as did not bear grudges and could always think positively. According to The Sham Commander Reclaims His Beauty, Wenyuan consider the magistrate’s cruel punishment on him, even though that was not Wenyuan’s

According to Sham Commander’s story, after knowing a wealthy man, who robbed by bandits, would be killed if his seek for rescue, Wenyuan left the wealthy man alone for a while and then rescued him afterward. He didn’t cause an unnecessary harm by being rationalized – he waited for a good opportunity to help the wealthy man. Then he gained both the wealthy man’s appreciation and a good reputation. However, Feng Yen, a hero from another story, behaved very differently. Feng Yen slept with other people’s wife, and their secret relationship was almost found out by the woman’s husband. During this emergency content, the poor woman misunderstood Feng Yen’s command, and handled Feng a sword instead of the kerchief Feng left. Feng was too radical and irrational, so he killed the poor woman. Since the woman’s husband had already got drunk, and therefore nobody could know Feng’s secret relationship with the man’s wife, Feng could just run away. There is no point for him to kill an innocent woman. Though Feng honestly committed his crime at the end saved the women’s husband from mistakenly believed as the murder, Feng still ruined a family. From this comparison, we can tell that Wenyuan could think forward and keep calm during emergency situation. He knew when is the right time to do the right thing, and tried to find a win-win …show more content…
Those bandits appreciated him and gave him a huge amount of money as repay. Instead of taking the money for his own benefit, Wenyuan gave the money to the manager of the restaurant. He turned the bandits’ rude behavior (robbed for free dinner) to a common purchasing behavior. Wenyuan cares more about the manager than the money. In another case, Wenyuan gratefully refused the money given from a wealthy man who has been rescued by Wenyuan. Again, it shows that Wenyuan is warm-hearted and willing to help people without pay. However, the woman ninja behaves differently than Wenyuan. (I know that we have discussed woman ninja’s personality during the class, but I still hold a different attitude about her personality and characteristic.) Ku helped woman ninja’s family at all time, because Ku appreciated that woman ninja was filial to her old mother. Yet Woman ninja never said “thank you” to Ku’s family about all the help she received. She thought all the chores she did for Gu, the care she gave to Ku’s mother, and the baby she gave birth to for Ku, should be a fair repay. In class, we stated that her behavior was embedded with Confucian value and Taoist. Yet in my point of view, it is still important for people to say thank you to the person who helped them. Otherwise, the way that people help each other will be more like people owning each other instead of

The essay “Huizong’s New Clothes: Desire and Allegory in Court Ladies Preparing Newly Woven Silk.” by Lara Blanchard argues that “… Huizong’s scroll stands as a double-edged comment on his fitness as a ruler, one that takes a Tang Dynasty image of elite women’s longing and bends it to the will of the Northern Song Emperor” (129). This article is effective because of its thorough examination of Chinese allegories relating to Court Ladies Preparing Newly Woven Silk. This essay starts off by mentioning that depictions of elite women in Chinese painting often correspond with traditional Chinese erotic poetry. It then goes into the creator of this painting and how it is linked to Huizong.…

Lao Dao’s neighbors are young women who are extremely different from any woman in First Space: “Ah Bei’s voice was sharp and brittle, and it cut through the air like a knife. Lao Dao looked at Ah Bei, at her young, determined, angry face, and thought she was very beautiful”(262). Here Lao Dao seems to appreciate the beauty in standing up for yourself and being independent, instead of being graceful and weak. However, Lao Dao goes on to talk about how he wishes Ah Bei could be graceful, so she could find love(262). Through this Hao points out how women in the lower class are still held to the standard of being elegant women when trying to find love, while their survival depends on them going against this standard, being independent and determined…
