Good Morning class, my name is Broden Ingram and I am privileged to take part in the “Take Part” Festival of 2016
The structure of the work was intentionally chosen to emphasize certain ideas. In the first stanza, I chose to indent the feelings and physical actions that the “colored” skin people go through. This possibly create sympathy to the targeted audience. This technique could potentially lead to readers feeling the need to “push the issue”. Similarly, in the third stanza, it can be comprehended in first person, providing an example of what parents and children had to go through and put up with. Additionally, the diminishing length of these lines develops a sense of helplessness, although many civilians seem to be affected by this issue, little or nothing is done about it.
