I do believe the recent scandal involving Wells Fargo unethical behavior starts at the top, then permeate its way down in the organization. Research suggests that senior leaders and direct executives play a huge part in motivating moral conduct in the workplace, according to the outcomes of a recent study from Deloitte and Touche USA (Schurr, 2007). To encourage high ethical standards within organizations, senior executives first have to create an atmosphere that is favorable to ethical practice, says Sharon Allen, chair of the board at Deloitte and Touche (Schurr, 2007).
