Wellness Recovery Action Plan

Decent Essays
In this Wellness Recovery Action plan nutrition is just as important than exercising. As shown in Appendix D the Daily Food Diary (Davis et al., 2008), it lists the foods I eat daily to maintain a healthy diet. Each day I work on maintaining a 1300 total calorie intake per day to reduce weight. I am 45 years old, fortunately I am overweight, since I’ve started eating healthier this past year I’ve lost 21 pounds. The best approach to weight control is to reduce your daily food intake and burn as calories by increasing exercise (Davis et al., 2008).

The only reason I achieved a score of two is because I rarely skip meals, preferring to eat continuously. Despite these bad habits, I am not overweight.…

In other words, I need to limit my saturated fat intake to 10 percent or less of total calories, avoid trans fats from processed foods and consume two servings of seafood per week to provide healthy amounts of omega-3 fatty acids. As for sugar consumption, I need to follow the new dietary guidelines and decrease the amount of added sugar in my diet to 5 to 10 percent of total calories consumed each day to reduce my risk of excess calorie consumption and weight gain.
