My sister Melanie and I first began this process through a phone call we had at the end of spring semester where we were first oriented with our positions for the summer. On our first official day of work May 17th, we were given an orientation by meeting with office personnel, plant managers and the factory workforce. We toured all of the Century plants and were also able to visit several of the recently acquired Hancock and Moore locations. Since then we have been working on the site for 5 days. Recently I have been assigned to form the wellness and health committee for all sites. This committee will be volunteer based and will incorporate 10-12 members from both Century and Hancock & Moore personnel. I have developed a job description, application, questionnaire, mission statement and goals for this position. I have also developed a slogan and icon that will depict the health and wellness initiative and also serve as an indicator of a healthy selection at the micro markets throughout the site locations. I am currently working on developing notebooks that the health and wellness committee members and advisors will use to be educated on health and wellness and also set the agendas and goals of the monthly committee meetings. On top of this assignment I routinely get assigned work that is relevant to the initiative such as creating media and bulletins for upcoming wellness programming. I have been currently assigned to create an information bulletin on the Catawba Regional Hospice. All in all, I have my hands full and I can definitely see myself leaving this company
