Purpose of the Intervention: The purpose of wellness programs in organizations is to protect and encourage employee health. Wellness programs are set in place to reduce health care costs, absenteeism, avoid illness or injury, and to improve quality of work life. It is important to engage the leadership at multiple levels, such as executives, middle managers, and people that work in “wellness” type jobs. There should be alignment between the wellness program and the company’s identity and vision. The design of the program should be broad, but high in relevance and quality. Companies should ensure broad accessibility, such as no/low cost programs being a priority. It is important to also create and nurture internal and/or external partnerships.
