I am especially interested in strengthening my applied knowledge of statistics, data analysis, and computer programming. While I can learn about these topics in class, I found this summer that the fastest and most effective way to sharpen my skills is to apply them to real world problems. In the span of a single summer, I became comfortable with the basics of R, Matlab, and Python. I learned to use R and Matlab for data analysis/handling through the QAI course and my research with Professor Rothschild. After I left campus, I spent some time learning Python at an introductory level, and am now in CS 111 to solidify those skills. On top of learning about practical data handling using computers, the QAI summer course and …show more content…
I really am looking for any opportunity that I can find to learn more, and I believe that I have the potential and experience to be a productive worker in any of the open positions. In particular, I have extensive mathematics tutoring experience from high school, so I would especially be an effective statistics tutor. If all of the open positions are filled, I am still interested in future applied statistics projects or an internship at the Human Variations Lab. For the potential internship openings: as stated above, I have experience with R and applied experience in Matlab, and am currently strengthening my Python skills. I also will know a small amount of HTML/CSS by the end of the
