These statistics show the number of Americans on welfare is rising which proves that people are becoming dependent on a welfare check. It is becoming so easy to stay at home and collect a check instead of going out and working.“The problem is that Washington is building a culture of dependency, with ever-more people relying on an ever-growing federal government to give them cash or benefits.” (www.cnn.com). It is not 100% the peoples fault for staying on welfare instead of working because our government is making benefits for anything you can think of. The government isn’t keeping restrictions or looking into someone's life to see if they truly need the financial assistance or not. “The growth of the welfare state, a confusing alphabet soup of programs that are supposed to help low-income Americans make ends meet is turning us into a land where many expect, and see no stigma attached to, drawing regular financial support from the federal government.”(cnn.com). This explains how the welfare system is making the American people feel like things should be given to them. The ones who are able to work and are staying on welfare don’t feel guilty or bad about it because everyone else is on it so they feel that they don't have to get off of it.
