Welfare receivers could be using their unearned money in ways they government had not intended. People who receive welfare could be manipulating the government and using the money for illegal drugs. Tax payers are the ones who provide money for welfare, and they work hard to earn their money. Nobody would want their money they have worked hard for used for illegal drugs.
People who receive welfare are classified as poor. Therefore, if they are given free money to live off of, of course they will use it as they wish. If welfare money is used on drugs, the receiver’s outcome will inevitably either be addiction or no longer being able to care for themselves. These people won’t be able to provide themselves with their necessities—food, shelter, keeping their hygiene up, etc.

However, the money is given for their personal needs; shelter, food, hygiene, water, etc. Others worry that the cost of administering the drug tests is too high. But if there is enough money to supply unemployed people with welfare, there should be enough left to provide drug tests for this minority. Another argument against this is the thought that the government should support all “poor” people, as well as the harm that could happen to families with kids if they were to lose welfare. However there needs to be some regulations and rules for people who are eligible to receive welfare, and these people should know that welfare should not be a lifelong dependency for the
