People who take illegal drugs aren’t spending their money wisely. The benefits are meant to pay for necessities for people during hard times. These benefits are meant to be, as many have said in the past, “a hand up” for a temporary period of time rather than an indefinite “hand out” to those who find themselves struggling financially. People should not receive aid that is meant to be used to purchase actual necessities, but allows them to have money free to buy drugs instead of the actual necessities they need. Welfare is a big issue in our country. Paying people because they don’t have the ability to provide for themselves is already a big debate, but it is even more so when the people aren’t good stewards with the money they are given.
