Rationale:
I want to improve my teaching by looking for credible resources and implementing these new ideas in future lesson plans. Right now in our lessons we tend to do the same thing each week for opening and closings, so I would like to use some of my new ideas in the lessons so it can be more engaging. In these sections we play Chickionary, Boggle, Hangman, and Word Search but I could be implementing my new ideas. Often when I think of my ideas I write them down in my anecdotal notebook or in my weekly reflection, this is as far as I get, I never attempt to look up any credible resources. I feel that this goal with allow me to create and make my lessons more engaging for my student. On February 7th, I wrote in my reflection, “A possible game he could like is Tic Tac Toe for reading comprehension, or a cube dice while reading,” (reflections, 2/7) I feel that a cube dice for reading comprehension will help my student focus more because he loves playing games and doing hands-on activities. I have not followed through with this yet, but I could see this benefiting my student. Triven often likes to use weird voices, like Darth Vader, when reading nonfiction texts. However, with reading Chocolate Fever, (Smith, 1989) he uses very little expression and often mumbles. I think that readers theater and echo reading should help him enunciate his words as well as improve his expression.
