Decent Essays
Hello,

Only 4 persons responded about their availability this evening. Moreover, I was reminded that the weekly Bible Study is scheduled for the same time. As such, I would like to cancel the brief meeting and instead respond to the questions below regarding your respective Sabbath School classes by the latest 10AM tomorrow (Friday, February 24, 2017).

For teachers who teach 2 classes, please copy & paste the questions and indicate the classes the responses are for.

If you started later in the year, please indicate that in your response.

Questions:

1. How would you describe your overall teaching experience for the January 2016 - December 2016 period?

2. Could you share any highlights of your students for the January 2016 - December 2016

As the body of Christ (the Church) redefined itself again and again throughout history, believers were hard-pressed to embrace and work through the multiple denominations amongst them. Fast-forward centuries and thousands of denominations later, and we find the Church at odds against the idea (or the classification) of evangelicalism. In Kevin J. Vanhoozer and Daniel J. Treier’s Theology and the Mirrors of Scripture: A Mere Evangelical Account, they raise the awareness that the problem of evangelicalism lies in the fact that there are no set doctrines that form a whole theology accepted by those who call themselves evangelicals or even other believers, as one would expect from a popular form of Christian denomination (i.e.: Calvinism, Baptist, Presbyterianism, etc.). The authors then liken Scripture to a mirror in order to illustrate the reflection (connection) between the Triune God…

The Sermon on the Mount is a interesting piece of writing that gives out a lot of crazy ideas on how people should live. I can not see anyone who is human living by these laws at all. On top of that in the Sermon on the Mount Jesus said that if you fail to live by these rules even once you go to hell. I can not agree with this at…

Document Analysis-SC3: Christianity Through the introduction of “Christianity”, the source of the excerpt of the New Testament is revealed, allowing one to gain insightful background information to analysis the method in which Christianity was spread and the characteristics of the religion that allowed it to do so. In particular, the writers and source of this excerpt were Saul, a Jew who hailed from Tarsus in Asia Minor and Matthew, a second-generation Christian. Saul, who was later know as Paul after a conversion to Christianity, reconstructed Jesus’s messages into religious ideology and enlightened different communities of converts with letters explaining the faith, in a time of religious commotion. Not unlike Saul, Matthew condensed Jesus’s…

    1. After reading through chapters 6-9 of our Everyday Bible Study text it is made very clear to us that God himself wrote the Bible. As the text says Paul stated that “All scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work”. 2. When we think about how God inspired the Bible we see that Paul states that the Bible is “inspired by God” which is translated into the Greek word “Theopneustos” which means “breathed-out from God”.…

Grappling with complex, heavy topics such as metaethics on an individual level is difficult enough. Every single one of us has a different set of morals that we express in our own ways. Yet it is undeniable that humans are social beings, and as such are influenced by the other humans around us. Social connections and ethics are two concepts that cannot be separated. Despite the most ardent scholarly attempts, there is no way to discuss morals without some infusion of interpersonal relationships, as evidenced by the texts from Hogue and Trible.…

Week Two Devotional By Christopher Slaughter This week’s devotional I can relate too this is how Jesus impacted me: There was a time, in my life long ago, my anger, hatred and bitterness started eating me alive from the inside out. For some time I was rejecting God and it had caught up with me. All the greed and selfishness had started caving in on me. My heart was dying, and there was no one to blame but me.…

David L. Thompson presented such a firm beginning foundation on the idea of inductive Bible study through his book Bible Study That Works. In his book, the readers are able to learn how to deepen their knowledge in the Bible and study the Bible thoroughly instead of simply studying about the Bible. This paper will discuss what I understand to be Thompsons basic view on Bible study, what I learned about effective Bible study that I did not know before, which aspect of effective Bible study will be most challenging for me, and will close with the current level of motivation I personally have as we begin diving into inductive Bible studies. Inductive Bible study is defined in our text as “an approach to inquiry in which students learn by examining the study themselves and drawing their own conclusions..” (Thompson, p. 12).…

This week, we discussed school and how it felt to us over the years, and explained the real meaning of multitasking and time. To me, the most important, or rather the one that stood out the most, was the lecture on school and what our ideal school would be. To most, school then and now are completely two different sides of the spectrum. When I was younger, school didn't feel like a job I would go to eight hours a day with people I hardly knew. It was fun and it was something I didn't dread going to because I didn't have as much responsibility.…

The verse that I chose for my confirmation is 1 Timothy 4:12, “ Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” Allow me to provide some background before I get into the meaning. About a year ago a friend of mine invited me to a youth night every wednesday at the freedom center, I have long since forgotten the sermon from that wednesday night but the verse the youth pastor pointed out to us has always stuck with me. This verse holds a special meaning to me because in this day and age I feel like people my age tend to be looked down upon, almost as if we are unable to comprehend subjects believed to be far beyond our knowledge. This verse…

The true heart of Christianity, Scripture, and Jesus have all been shown to me through years of faith training and religious course. The world is broken and as christians we are able to fix it through our actions. With open hearts we can show the love of Jesus. In the scripture we can describe messages of hope to those who need guidance. Also through christianity we can show that redemption is easy to obtain if you look in the right place.…
