When I first started this assignment I was extremely clueless as to who i was going to interview. I could not think of anyone that I knew who had diabetes. I mentioned the assignment to my mom and she mentioned that a neighbor of mine has diabetes. I was able to interview him to find out further information about diabetes and how he deals with it in his everyday life. He is around 50 years old. He currently is living with Type 1 Diabetes. Ever since he was around the age of 15 he has had diabetes, so he has been dealing with this for the majority of his life. In order to keep his diabetes at a manageable level he has to monitor his blood sugar level. In order for him to make sure that he is always on top of things he carries around an insulin pack. I definitely have learned more after interviewing my neighbor. I knew that there were different types of diabetes such as Type 1 and Type 2. I was not aware of the differences between the two types. I also had no knowledge of gestational diabetes. There is a lot of things that I still could learn about Diabetes. I am curious to know how many people are living with Diabetes today and if that number has been increasing or decreasing.
