Said marriage did not go as planned, evidenced by the fact that I am describing her second marriage. After telling me that she would be getting married, she began to “warn” me of what to expect at her

In a present wedding, after the marriage of the bride and groom they have a reception where people eat food, dance, and celebrate the new couple. The white wedding dress was a later tradition, most women then would have worn their best gown or purchased a new gown if the money was available. Their gown would have been full length and made of velvet, satins and corduroy if the bride could afford it. Over the years, the purpose of weddings has changed. Weddings first began with three functions: (1) serving a transitional rite for an individual moving from one life stage to the next, (2) providing reassurance that one is making the right choice for their partner and to have approval from family, and (3) bringing two families together into one (Barnes, 2014).
