You 're Invited... to More Than Just a Wedding

Wedding invitations are some of the most important correspondence you will send out. You spend days, even weeks, choosing just the right paper, font, message, and...invitation list. Don 't be alarmed, but for as critical as those invitations may be, they are not the only solicitations you will send out during your wedding preparations. There are several other key events that take place during this time, and each has a slightly different invitational format and style. The following list will give you the information you need to know to master each one:

Bridal Shower To many soon to be brides, the bridal shower is almost as important as the big day, itself. The whole event, including the invitations, is typically the responsibility of the maid or matron of honor, but that doesn 't mean you can 't have some input. Your right-hand-woman is going to need to know if this is a sophisticated and feminine gathering with conservative and elegant invitations or a must less wholesome affair requiring a slightly different style of card. While the shower 's main purpose is to give gifts to the bride-to-be as she prepares for her wedding, individual family, regional, and cultural customs may also come into play.

While the maid or matron of honor typically takes care of the bridal shower, the best man is in charge of the bachelor party. In much the same way as the bride should communicate her expectations about the shower, the bride and groom should be up-front with their best man and maid/matron of honor if there are any expectations or limitations.
