Websites: Museum Analysis

The first website I found belongs to The National World War Two Museum of New Orleans. The museum was founded by Stephen E. Ambrose, who spent many years covering, researching and writing about the war. The site, as well as the museum, is managed by the staff with the help of many outside volunteers under the close watch of its board of trustees’. The museum has many collaborations and partnerships with other museums and universities. This collaboration allows the museum the opportunity to constantly change and continually update the exhibits. Due to this fact, The National World War Two Museum is a very highly respected venue worldwide, and it must be sure to regulate the information it puts out to the public. The museum must only display …show more content…
Spartacus Educational was founded and still managed John Simkin. Mr. Simkin's main purpose for creating and maintaining this website was to provide free historical information for students and teachers to use. The website is believed to be one of the top three education sites used in Britain. As well as managing his website, Simkin contributes to several other well-known educational websites. With such a reputation to uphold, one can likely be sure the information displayed by John Simkin on the Spartacus Educational site is …show more content…
The website is not full of pictures or any other type of eye candy, instead a viewer will need to actually read the information being displayed. Once you are on the World War Two specific pages, the website provides a grid of topics to choose from. The topics range from important battles to the important leaders. I found the tabs titled the background of the war and the chronology of the war to be most interesting. No matter which topic you choose there is a vast amount of information presented, where you will no doubt find another link to a specific event or person. I really enjoyed how this website flowed. Before you even realize, you will find yourself very deep into the facts and events of the war.
The last website I chose was the Military History site of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. The Smithsonian Institution was created by Congress in 1846. The goal was to create a place to distribute knowledge. Today, the Smithsonian is the probably the most well-known network of museums and establishments for all things history in this country. The Smithsonian and its websites are managed under the guidance of the Members of the Board of Regents. One can be assured with the level of prestige related to the Smithsonian the information found on its website is without a doubt

After reading through several fascinating stories, pictures, and testimonies I can most definitely say that researching all about the war in Vietnam was very informative. I felt that being able to assess the war from both American and Vietnamese perspectives was a very big factor in understanding the full magnitude of it. Unlike any war before, each side had completely different strategies, strengths, and weakness that leveled out the playing field. In the end, both America and Vietnam paid hefty consequences for a war whose outcome was not particularly favored by either side.…

    World War 2 Media Analysis

World War Two was a traumatic war for many people, not just those fighting on the continent, but also for those on the Homefront. Great Britain also suffered due to the physical bombing of their country. This involvement, of both the British people, and of the British environment, has caused WWII to achieve a prominent place in the culture and memory of the British people. This association is expressed in different ways: from the official remembrance through war memorials and monuments, through an almost unconscious remembrance due to the remaining war damage dotting the urban landscape, and through how the war and its people are shown by different popular media such as television and movies. All of these elements work together to create the…

Many terror groups, whether Islamists or Marxists, nationalists or separatists, or even racists and anarchists have widely endorsed the use of internet to further their ideologies, raise funds, and in the recruitment of new members- both active jihadists and passive supporters (Weimann, 2014). The website that I chose was from a history.com because it is a reliable source and because they also have a television channel that has accurate facts that people took time into researching facts about history. You can tell that it is a reliable and accurate source for information about Pompeii because the publisher of the website is A&E Television Networks and that network actually takes time to look at facts about history and make sure they tell accurate information to their researchers because they have such a huge following. The website is where people can get more information about things they had researched and they should be able to tell millions of people the accurate information about stuff in order for them to have a good reputation.…
