In class we were told to find a website to start on our final, our own website to document our progress in class. We had a choice of many websites, but there were 2 main websites provided on Blackboard. I started out with the provided websites and tried to craft a good-looking website in the time allocated in class, what I thought would be an easy process turned out to be a bit harder than I thought.
Pros and Cons of Weebly
The first website I visited was the most difficult. The display was clean and neat, and one of the pros were the easy sign up for the website. After I signed up for the website I went through a automatic website generator that would create a website based on the questions answered on the quiz they provided. The quiz was confusing and definitely a con of building an actual website, the generator was very slow and the questions were very vague. When I got to actually using the website with just an regular template I didn't like the actually display and setup of the website, and didn't feel as if any of the templates fit the look I wanted for my website. Weebly was easily navigatiable and the content was displayed in a way that made it easy to click between home page and other parts of the websites, though, after

A pro of Wix is better looking templates and more options for website setups. Though the template websites were better looking than the Weebly site, a con was editing the actual website It seems as if Wix is a more complex site for internet creators who have had experience in the subject before. I could barely get my name on the page and move it around and move it around without accidently deleting something, and I didnt not have enough creativity to fully do this process for the whole site. Though, this website was easy to work with and I enjoyed the capabilities of what the website could do, liking including gifs etc. which was a pro for the

At first glance, Lake Land’s webpage is more attractive because it is spread throughout the whole screen and uses bold colors like red and black, while Parkland’s webpage only takes up the middle part of the screen and does not use many colors. Lake Land’s webpage also shows a slideshow of pictures that stretch across the whole top part of the screen, while Parkland’s webpage only has a couple pictures that are not near as big as the pictures on Lake Land’s webpage. Lake Land’s webpage also looks better because it has all the main information at the top of the screen, opposed to Parkland’s webpage, who has all of its information spread down the whole homepage. Lake Land’s webpage is more concise with the way that it lists information on the webpage’s home page, compared to Parkland’s webpage whose information is spread through the whole homepage, making the visitor have to read through a lot, and possibly boring the visitor. Lake Land’s webpage also uses a bigger font than Parkland’s webpage, making Lake Land’s webpage a lot easier to read.…

When I first heard this year’s theme, “Standing Up in History,” the first thing that came to mind was the Holocaust and WWll. Remembering a book I had read a few years back titled “The Boy Who Dared” by Susan Bartoletti about Helmuth Hübene, the youngest person to be sentenced to death by the Nazi Regime, I immediately began to research other people and groups who stood up against Hitler. Soon after that, I stumbled across Sophie Scholl, a young woman in a non-violent resistance group, and began to investigate her and the group called “The White Rose” (german translation: die Weiße Rose) who between the points of summer 1942 to February 1943 wrote and published 6 leaflets about the wrongness of the Nazis. By this point, inspired and immediately…

The second website I evaluated is titled My Storybook. This website seemed like a creative idea for a website to me at first, but once I started to evaluate it, I noticed a couple flaws. When I tried looking for the about me section, all I found was the “contact” section. On the “contact” section, the only source it had available was their email; nowhere on the page was the author acknowledged. Another thing…

Also, the coloring of the website was found to be very dull and boring making the students not really look at the website in much detail because it did not catch their eye. Along with color, font size was also a big issue, some students said that the text was hard to read because it was so small. The appearance of the website plays a big role in getting people interested in the website. The largest issue we saw with the website was the information presented was minimal. First, the list of churches that are involved in this organization was not provided although there is a link that is shown to lead you…

The party that I chose to evaluate was the Illinois Green Party. I chose to evaluate this website because I wanted to see how a 3rd party would match up to the Democratic and Republican pages. At first glance, the page does seem to be a little outdated, however it was much better than I anticipated. Because the Green Party is a lesser known party, I expected a late 90s themed website that was hard to navigate. On the homepage there were links for people to get involved with the party, as well as places to donate.…
