In recent years, the use of Web based Project management systems in the construction industry has increased considerably. There are many factors driving this change. Construction projects are becoming more complex nowadays. Each project contains professionals from various disciplines and has a large amount of forms and information available which are used by these different professionals at different times. The data in the construction project is changing constantly. So it is very difficult in changing the data manually and notifying all the professionals involved with in time. The use of inaccurate data can be very costly. The use of inaccurate data can also cause unnecessary delays which will result in additional costs and also the effect …show more content…
It also makes the tasks simpler as all the members on the team can work in whichever platform they are comfortable with. All the members involved in the project can update the tasks immediately after completing them. This saves a lot of time for the Project manager.
Reduces Costs
Using WBPMS saves the money for the company. It reduces the money spent on paper as all the documents are stored electronically. It also saves money spent to store and protect these documents as they are stored electronically in server. It also helps in reducing the delays in construction and thereby saves the additional costs which occur due to the

This is one of the main disadvantages of WBPMS. With the advancements in computer industry this issue might get resolved in near future.
Offline Unavailability
WBPMS cannot be used offline. In order to use WBPMS the person must have access to internet. Even though nowadays most of the places have internet there are still remote places where there is no availability of internet. This disadvantage will soon disappear with the help of mobile browsing and other improvements in connectivity.
Security
Security is one of the major concern for WBPMS. Even though they are built with topnotch security firewalls there is still a minor chance for the leakage of the data.
Infrastructure
Companies must have proper infrastructure for using WBPMS. A lot of companies in the construction industry do not have appropriate infrastructure. The reason for this might be the cost for the infrastructure. Though there are initial expenses for WBPMS, it saves a lot of money once we start using it and also increases the efficiency and
