The results were that participants who were given a significantly higher amount of electric shocks such as seven shocks rated themselves angrier than those who received a lower amount of electric shocks. It also showed that just by purposely setting weapons on the table caused the person to act more aggressively. Therefore, the weapons been present provoked participants a higher effect level of anger arousal than those participants who got the electric shots with badminton toys set on the table. This resulted in weapons been linked to aggression in the human brain. In other words, apparently we cannot ignore the presence of a weapon. Thus, we all know the effects of shooting a weapon. A weapon can be intended for good use purposes such as defending yourself from an oppressor, or by threatening others in a robbery and killing. Either or, our brains link guns with aggression and death, and its well aware guns are intended to harm and kill. Main reason why we tend to be more prone to aggressive behaviors when a firearm is …show more content…
That is because in certain situations where a weapon is present it tends to reduce violence since the owner of the weapon carries external control over the perpetrator. In the other hand, by guns been present in a home can cause tragic events such as being close to children’s reach and going off when not locked or properly placed. It can also get in the middle of an individual’s way of thinking by increasing their thoughts of aggression and violence when a weapon is preset leading them to commit suicide. The study does not have a good random/representative sample of the population of interest because the study was conducted by using one hundred university students, all of them being males who volunteer for the experiment without knowing what the experiment will be about or based on. No females were picked for the experiment. Therefore, we do not know if females would have reacted differently than males by the present of a weapon set on the table. Another reason was the fact they were all university students from the same Wisconsin University enrolled in a psychology course. The participants were not behaving naturally in my opinion. First of all, the experimenters brought in a confederate into the room, which made the participants suspicious, causing the experimenters to discard thirty-nine of them. Second of all, there were weapons set on the table which made participants wonder why
