Odyssey Entry #8 Like every hero Odysseus has a weakness. This might not have been easy to see, but it was there. Odysseus weakness was not physical, but it was a mental weakness. His biggest weakness was his pride. Odysseus was a proud man. Being proud clouded his decision making. Although pride can be a good thing, it is not when it comes to Odysseus. Odysseus like to taunt his enemies. He taunted Polyphemus while in his cave. These taunts resulted in Odysseus men dying. While telling his story Odysseus seems to be boasting rather than accounting past events. It is not obvious that Odysseus is boasting, but if you read closely you can tell.
