Belbin identified nine team roles that individuals can adopt, but this will depend to some extent on the situation on the ground, their relationship with others in the team and the type of work being undertaken. Some of the challenges that established teams can experience are being able to generate and share ideas and sustain a feeling of team identity, provide on-going support, increase confidence and improve working relationships, provide information and updates, plan and discuss changes, review critical incidents, address communication issues and reward team members for good work and celebrate success.
A team leader faces many challenges such as co-ordinating a team to achieve a set goal or objective.
