We Will Read Next Year Research Paper

Who should choose the books that we will read next year, the teacher or the students? I support the decision to have the teacher pick the books we will be reading for next school year. I believe this because of these reasons; the teacher has experience with a very wide variety of all sorts of books, she will challenge the students more with her choice of books, and she will choose books that she can prepare for in advance.
Although she may only choose books that interest her, the teacher has extensive experience and knowledge about many books. First of all, teachers are much older than their pupils so they have had that much more time and opportunities to read books. The average public school teacher is 43 years of age, while the average 7th grade student is only 12 years old. This shows that, on average, teachers have had over 30 more years to explore all different genres and authors. Also, the teacher has already been through elementary school, middle school, high school, and college. The teacher has personal experience about what types of books

This means that she would not choose The Magic School Bus, but not college textbooks either. She would choose books that match her students’ ability. The teacher knows exactly what skills her pupils are lacking and how to bridge the gap in their academic success. With this information she could find out what books provide emphasis on the certain skill she needs her students to understand. An argument that opposes the opinion that students should choose the books is the simple fact that many students would likely choose the easiest book available. Even though the book must reach certain standards, everyone knows the students will most likely pick the book with the least pages possible. This can be avoided by not allowing the students to pick the books that they read. Again, not The Magic School Bus, but not college

The question of whether the educational systems are encouraging competition depending on the students engagement is a tricky one. On one side, one can feel that these competitions encourage students to have an environment with competition that focuses more on getting the material completed and becoming number one. However on the other hand one might feel that schools do not encourage competition it focuses more on actually understanding the material. Evidence suggests that most people feel that education should be taught in a different ways where students feel encouraged to prosper. By examining “I Know Why The Caged Bird Cannot Read” by Francine Prose, “Emerson on Education” by Ralph Waldo, “Superman and me” by Sherman Alexie, and “Best in Class” by Margaret Talbot, it will become more…

This can clearly be disproven; a survey by Scholastic showed that “only 51% of children said they love or like reading books for fun… 12% said they did not like it at all” (Flood). In other words, only about half of the children throughly enjoy reading while almost a quarter do not like at all. Paul also goes into further detail on the time commitment that the activity takes up to begin with; she boldly states, “You can finish watching a move in two hours and forget about it; not so a novel. Sticking it out for 300 pages means immersing yourself in another person’s world and discovering how it feels.” It is evident from these statements that reading a book does lengths of time out of one’s day that could be spent doing several other activities.…

Having been homeschooled for the first twelve years of my life, I had a rather untraditional childhood. While my friends were required to go to school from 6:20 in the morning to 3:30 in the afternoon, I was at home studying or on a field trip to some relevant lecture, the library, or a museum. Because of this less rigid environment, I usually had a lot of time available to me in addition to my school time. Using this excess time for my own personal interests, I developed a penchant for reading at an early age.…

Why Everyone In An American Classroom Should Read the Great Gatsby A extremely common question from high school students is “why should we spend our time reading old books and plays from a stupid list; especially, when there are more important things are going on in life and school? The reason why specific books are included on reading list is simple. Generally literature includes aspects that helps individuals increase their understanding of written works and why they’re important; but to be included on a reading list, a novel must specific meet specific criteria to prove its worthiness. While there is a gamut of criteria used to judge whether a novel belongs on a list or not, I believe the four following criteria are extremely critical…

Hi Iraris, Congratulations on your baby girl, how exciting! Sirari is a unique and very beautiful name. I also practice ceramics unfortunately I have never had the opportunity to take a ceramics class at the JC, but I hear only good things about instructors. I have taken painting classes before with Loffredo he is a very good professor if you are looking to explore your creativity in a less guided course, he offer great advice and suggestion regarding technique and you can learn a lot from him but he leaves the subject and composition of your work in his class entirely up to you. I give him the highest recommendation he is easily one of my favorite instructors that I have had at the JC.…

Big Events for Conterm and Montreal’s Music Festivals Normally, you attend a music festival or concert at a coliseum complete with balcony seats and a full stage with humongous monitors so everyone can see the artists performing. But what about an outdoors concert where there isn’t a roof or balcony seating? Summer concerts are great for people who want to party outside, however, musicians still must have a stage set up for their equipment, background, backup singers, and dancers but how is this managed? The concept and solution are simple.…

Whether it be a Goosebumps books or Mark Twain books you 'll go anywhere it leads you, but once I got into middle school and high school the books weren 't like that anymore. School books do have plenty of information in them, but they’re uninteresting to read. Not too many people want to get lost in a book about photosynthesis, they would much rather read a story about action and adventure. I do feel like reading the informational books for studies and homework did help when I would read them to finish my school work, but thats only if I could make myself read through them. Usually I would just skim through the book rather than read it word for word to get the main idea.…

“How Teachers Make Children Hate Reading” is a personal memoir of John Holt’s recollections of being an English teacher. Holt remembers the times when he was the teacher that made children dissect books until their minds no longer held the real meaning of them. Their minds were drilled into finding the ‘correct’ answer and moving on as fast as possible. After multiple arguments with his sister telling him his approach to teaching reading was wrong and hurting the children's love for reading, he slowly started to listen. In his memoir, Holt shows growth of being a dynamic character and his ways of teaching change alongside him.…

In seventh grade, my reading experience went farther downhill. The teacher expected us to do projects reflecting over what we had read every time we finished a book, with a minimum of five per trimester. I hated doing these reflection projects, so my quantity of reading fell further to just five books every three months. However, the final nail in the coffin of my reading came in eighth grade. On the first day of school, the teacher informed us that the only genre we would be allowed to read for out reading logs, which were unnecessarily complicated, was nonfiction.…
