When discussing animal testing some may not see it as an issue, but what some people might not know is that these tests are an animal's worst nightmare. These test range from food and water deprivation, to contact with various drugs, injections with chemicals and infectious diseases, and many other cruel experiments. These tests are not only given to rats and mice, but a whole other selection of animals as well. Some of these animals include rabbits, dogs, cats, chimpanzees, and fish. These tests are conducted to find new medicinal products, test human health, among other reasons. We should not have to put animals in these kinds of dangers when surely enough there are other ways to find cures.

That then gives a reason to stop animal testing. We humans do not share the same functions as animals do. For example, we don't get the same diseases as animals do. Just like they don't get the same diseases as us. Animals don't get major types of heart diseases, HIV, the many forms of cancer, and don't experience schizophrenia. To make these animals have similar diseases, the animals are artificially injected with toxins to have them experience the same side effects as humans. Doing this only increases their fear and brings excruciating pain for them. And despite 115 million animals used around the world only 25 new medicines have been approved. And many of these are for rare diseases. This isn't the only thing that has gone to waste, but money is an issue here as well. The US drug industry invests $50 billion per year for research that will end up going to So despite the many experiments and money used on animals there has yet to be a known cure for some of the world’s deadliest diseases. With animals being endangered and money being wasted, people should know the limitations and dangers that come with the …show more content…
Many “cures” thought to be beneficial to humans actually did the opposite, they have caused harm and even death. Since animals react differently to the tests there's no way to prove that they will do the same for us. Even when tested on chimpanzees, there has been 80 vaccines for HIV which has proven safe to use for them. When tested on about 200 humans, all failed to show a sign of being cured. And in one trial it actually showed chances of the patient getting infected. In 2004, the drug vioxx was taken off the market due to it causing over 60,000 deaths in the U.S. alone. When the drug vioxx tested on animals it appeared to be safe. In 2007, the FDA revealed that deaths involving adverse drug events doubled between 1998 and 2005. The FDA reported that 92 percent of all drugs approved for human trials have failed for actual human use. Seeing that most of the times that we actually tried to find a specific cure most of the time it failed. We again put animals in danger for no reason because in the end nothing seems to exactly work out how they want it too. If animals had more protection there would be an easier way to stop the cruelty that goes along with animal testing.
The animal welfare act is a U.S. federal law and is the only law that covers research on animals in laboratories. Started in 1966, this law monitors the care and use of animals in research, testing,
