Major International Conflict

Many people do not help stop the major international conflict. Part of this conflict starts with ignorance. “In 2005, to date the hottest year on record, there was a massive loss of coral reefs, including some that were healthy and thriving when Columbus first arrived in the Caribbean. In 1998, the second hottest year on record, the world lost an estimate of 16 percent of all its coral reefs” (Gore 164). This quote states the increasing of pollution in the atmosphere and the pollution is affecting nature. Human beings do not know the actual facts. If people know the facts of pollution, individuals would be doing something to help prevent pollution. For example, drive less, buy an efficient car, or help with community work. “The main way in …show more content…
Not everyone sees pollution every day, especially air or noise pollution. Some people in this world, especially in places in the United States, do not live by power plants, polluted water, or a loud street. There needs to be more topics about pollution so more human beings can get involved. The world will change if the world starts to stop pollution now. Also, many individuals ignore the fact that pollution is a major problem. “For starters, we need our lawmakers to quit ignoring climate change and start limiting carbon pollution that is heating our planet and increasing the intensity of extreme weather” (N.R.D.C Health). Not only can individuals ignore pollution, but also government law makers. Government law makers need to participate more to help stop pollution, especially when they have more political power than most humans. Fining companies that pollute too much is necessary for this cause because companies will have to stop in order to stay in business. Law makers will have more success in stopping pollution than any human. Some cities and states are taking steps to address climate change-related water issues, but many more have yet to begin” …show more content…
If nothing is being done, more damage is going to be done and more money will have to be spent, taking more out of citizens pockets. “Researchers continue to urge the Chinese government to take action to reduce emissions from cars and industries” (O 'Hanlon). A good example to follow is the Chinese government. The government will limit the amount of pollution and the quantum amount of pollution will decrease over time in the future. Without government guidance, pollution will not stop. “Much of the forest destruction comes from burning. Almost 30% of the carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere each year is a result of burning of brushland for subsistence agriculture and wood fires used for cooking” (Gore 227). People all over the world are cutting and burning wood, especially in rain forests. This shows the amount of plants that are decreasing around the world due to deforestation, which will change planet Earth forever. This is a good example to prove that people care about their short term life, not about long term life; humans use the resources around them survive during that moment in their

Given the context of Smoketown, the combination of political philosophy and information processing frames of reference would work best. Political philosophy is the strongest frame at providing an overall policy goal through its dialectic approach. However, it is the weakest of the five frames at providing technical details or a plan of action. Information processing counterbalances the major weakness of political philosophy by being the strongest technical frame since it provides prescriptions for the policy process (Bobrow and Dryzek 1987, 95). The major weakness of information processing, decision-making, is offset by the strength of political philosophy.…

Most people think “What is out for me in the world?” The answer is a decomposing ecosystem, a polluted ocean, and a carbon dioxide filled air. Yet with all of these issues surrounding us and growing daily, individuals do not take action to combat them. They instead come to terms with the issue or believe that it is not their job to fix it. Wrong.…

The government already has the power to tax companies through the constitutional interstate commerce clause, so a push to tax these industries harder to clean the environment might not require such wholesale changes. Taxing industries creates incentives to find cleaner energies, like the cap-and-trade system. Instead, more focus should be placed on the energies that do not have so many negative externalities. States like Florida that outlaw solar energy leasing should change their policies in order to drastically decrease their pollution output from factories and homes (Dickinson). According to National Geographic, the sun beams enough energy each hour to satisfy global energy needs for an entire year.…

In the article “Our Crime Against the Planet and Ourselves,” Adrian Parr states that environmental degradation is a crime against humanity while she was interviewed by Natasha Lennard. She talks about how humans are destroying living things by polluting waterways, causing deforestation and loss of habitat and the expanding deserts, which causes many problems for future generations and depriving them of the environmental benefits that our generations had. Parr points out that there are many ways to deal with the problem of environmental degradation one being with the help of the government that can put in place regulations that slow down the effect of pollution and other harmful things on the environment, but lately the government responds…

What is ocean policy and why is it important? The National Ocean Policy sets forth a vision of an America whose stewardship ensures that the ocean, our coasts, and the Great Lakes are healthy and resilient, safe and productive, and understood and treasured so as to promote the well-being, prosperity, and security of present and future generations. Pollution, overfishing, and natural disasters are affecting the oceans in a negative way. Overfishing is something that can take place in any lake, ocean, and even ponds to set laws on.…

The Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network predicts that many of the remaining reefs will disappear in the next 40 years if the current emissions trend continues. If we don’t take action we could lose it all, literally. “If, and when, they go, they will take with them about one-third of the world’s marine biodiversity. Then there is a domino effect, as reefs fail so will other ecosystems. This is the path of a mass extinction event, when most life, especially tropical marine life, goes extinct.”…

One of the biggest phenomena is called El Niño. “El Niño, the periodic warming of the Pacific Ocean that alters climate around the world, has already set records in 1997, and the worst is possibly still to come”(Today’s Science). It’s first major outbreak was in 1982-83, it’s the spark that rose attention to modern pollution.…

In the 1960’s the United States started firing up nuclear plants. On June 12, 1960, the Fermi Nuclear Reactor stopped and then restarted. Concerns about safety, and pressure from the unions and the public, the courts completely prohibited further construction on the site; however, the US Supreme Court allows it to restart. A near catastrophic event at the reactor in 1966 proved to show the reason for much concern about nuclear materials. In 1963 Senate Subcommittee created the Clean Air Act to study, and funds for cleanup efforts for all local, state and federal levels.…

This issue often goes unnoticed because humans are so caught up in their everyday lives. Many people support only what is best for humans in their lifetime and don’t look at the bigger picture. People fail to consider how their actions affect not only plants and animals in their ecosystem, but future generations as well. Throughout the years we have harmed and destroyed forest ecosystems and everything that lives in them, so it is only fair that we do everything we can to help limit the amount of damage we deal to our forests and wildlife. Deforestation has been around since…
