Personal Narrative Essay-We Must Fight

We Must Fight When I joined the military, like many other newbies, I had no idea what to expect. I had always had a keen interest in everything war related and it seemed like a god way to run away from the responsibility of college classes. In the beginning, it was all very over whelming and information was thrust upon you in a fast and seemingly unorganized manner. I’ll be honest, at 18 years old, when I called my mom for the first time, I was in tears. In between the sobs I told her that I wanted to come home. I didn’t like what I was going through and I thought I had made a huge mistake. I had been yelled at before but never for no-good reason. I just wanted to go back to the classroom or at least in my dorm room to play Smash Bros. However, …show more content…
My mother can recall conducting nuclear attack drills in her school in Chicago. Apparently the students were to get under their desks and not look out the windows. Being a prior Air Force nuclear weapons specialist, I can assure you that these drills were mainly something to do before you and everyone around you perished. It would have happened one of 2 ways; either instantly, in a flash of flame and debris, or slowly and painfully due to radiation poisoning. President Regan knew this better than I do and the grit he showed in not only confronting the leaders of the Soviet Union, but also the liberals who were ready to give up under the fear of destruction. It almost sickens me to think that some people would rather not stand up for what they themselves believe. They would rather bend the proverbial knee and accept tyrant’s demands. When there are those that would “rather be Red than dead”, (Regan) or “rather live on their knees then die on their feet” (Regan), we as American’s can’t turn a blind eye and allow the more vocal left to have their way. Unfortunately in this day and age, it seems to me that the gate that squeaks the most gets more oil, or in other words, the louder you speak, the more people pay attention. Regan knew this and he knew that there is only so much appeasement that we as a nation …show more content…
This speech is almost always posted on facebook around Veterans Day. Not being a Regan baby, these posts were the first time I was exposed to the speech. It elicited an emotions response that went to my core. It spoke boldly to our enemies and our allies alike. Making sure that both knew where we stood as far as our idealisms. Being president, no one would question whether he had the right to say these words, that he was also a veteran was icing on the cake. While he did not use any true statistics as far as numbers he did bring up what some of the nay-sayers had been elating. He swiftly refuted these claims at their heart and insured that everyone in the nation knew his thoughts on the matter. All told, President Regan used the big three convey insure there was no question of America’s

Life’s a Fight I still remember the day I meet him; it was a hot and sunny day. our first class had ended, and I was putting away my Spanish class notebook. In paragraph 11 to 13, he stated, “If we are to retain our own freedom, we must do everything within our power to aid Britain…because we cannot live in this world alone, without friends and without allies.” This quote was significant because he specifically told the Americans why the United States needed to be involved in the war. Another quote from his speech was in paragraph 8 where he specifically stated what it means to be an American. The quote said that it is not the race or money that defines and American; it is the never ending fight for their freedom and “whose heart is engraved in the immortal second sentence of the Declaration of Independence.” This is important because it shows how much Americans care about their country and that they will always be willing to fight to protect their freedom.…

He needed an approval by Congress, and needed war efforts put forth by millions of Americans. With a serious, bone chilling tone, he used various forms of ethos, pathos, and logos to persuade his audience. Within minutes after the speech, the United States declared war on Japan, and many Americans went on to enlist in the ranks. This undoubtedly shows how effective his address was and why it was listed as one of the greatest American…

Before the Air Force I never had a plan and was what most would say a wild child. I didn’t have a clue where I was headed in life and worked a dead end job that would never put me anywhere else but living with my mother until she was tired of me and made me leave. I was always out and partying and just had no sense of direction until one day I had a realization and decided to join the world greatest Air Force. People always said the military changed you, I never ever thought it would change me but boy did it. It was the most awkward silence I had ever been a part of, 52 men on a bus…

His structure was very vast, contained a lot of parts, he opened with why he was there, and his acknowledgment of the wrongdoing that is happening in Germany. He then proceeded to state different countries, and their stances of freedom, almost comparing them to Germany. The rest of the speech is him relating to Germany, telling them what should be changed and getting defensive in the way of taking down the wall. The tone is almost tense, and overly scripted. I believe he was trying to hard to top JFK’s speech, and he delivered the speech as Berlin’s pain was winding down, which seems sort of shameful to Reagan,…

A Time to Never be Forgotten I will never forget the hot Florida sun in the summertime or the squeaking of basketball shoes moving across the hardwood court. All this happened when I was in the 3rd grade. As I was eager to get out of Kansas, I started packing my bags the night before, and I usually never pack until my mom is yelling at me at the top of her lungs to get out of the door. This was going to be my second time heading back to Florida, but my first time going there for basketball.…
