So when my parents told us they plan to move from Iran to the Unites States for better educational opportunities I felt that we had won a lottery! I never imagined myself in that situation, to leave all I had in one month and to enter a new world. Up to that time I was working toward my dream of getting into my first choice university in Tehran, but then everything changed, and I have to experience a new life. I would face the challenge of getting my education but in a different language and culture, and more importantly getting to a good University. The language was the most important subject. I have a twin sister and one younger brother, we all were worried about this new subject of our “immigration.” At the beginning, it was really hard because I was confused in most cases and I had trouble even reading the words. Even though the translation gets easier, what was more difficult for me was to watch my parents struggle in this new country and know they had given up so much to create a better future for me and my siblings. It is hard for me to see how hard it is for my father to sell everything that he gained back in my country and how hard he has to work now to make money for us. On the one hand, it is really hard for me to see the hardship of my dad’s life only because of us. My fathers helped me a lot to overcome my struggles, and finding my interests in life. He pushed me a lot to follow my dreams, and he helped me to experience different subject to find my major. The times that I was so lonely among many people in school, he was my father and my best friend. The times that I feel no one see me and no one cares about me, he called me every day and talked to me for hours and hours. So, I think it is about dedication and self-sacrifice that they moved us to another country even thought that they have to overcome
