We Have Become Uncivil: This I Believe

Sometimes I think the world has not even discovered the word or meaning of kindness, and some people never really learn about it. There are many occurrences that I have noticed that a lot of people today are becoming more uncivil, rude to others and do not have and no patients for anyone in today. It could also be the society we live in every day that could change people to be rude and short with others but whatever the reason. We have all become uncivilized. This I believe.

There was one day where I was at the fair with my friends and we were standing in line for a cup of lemonade. When this kid that was in front of use came to the front of the cart, the lady at the cart said “may I

It’s becoming more and more ridiculous every day one person becomes more and more uncivility for example. I work at a subway, one day there was this woman who walked in with her husband and her son. As she walked up to the counter she looked if she had hated me all my life, when she reached the counter she eyed it like everything on the table was wrong, As I asked "My I help you " she looked at me and said "well of course" as I prepared all their food she started to complain about every last thing I did. At the end when I was ringing up the stuff she stopped me and said " where is your manager this table looks like crap and the food is horrible" she went on and on, when she finally left. There was a small line after she left so I prepared all their food with no problem and know complaints, as the last person left. I walked to the back to call my manager. When I called my manager I told her what had happened she said " I know who that is " she explained that the women had work there a year ago and she complains to get free food so she doesn’t have to pay for

Much like the First Principle in Kress’s story, modern society attempts to follow a “golden rule” of treating others the way you would have them treat you. Ironically, modern society’s version of the First Principle is the least demanding. It is much easier to treat people well without considering their side of the story, than it is to actually put yourself in their…

If we lived in a perfect world, everyone would be nonjudgmental towards each other. For some reason, humans have a preconceived notion of each other and categorize one another in different social groups. People tend to define each other as average, normal, or odd; but who are we to define a person as something when we are ourselves difference of what it really means. In today’s world people are selfish and don’t take others feelings into consideration before going through with an action. It makes me mad because there are so many people that have great ideas but are shut down because people always doubt them. No matter what you think others may say or do you should always treat others how you want to be treated. “"He was someone's slave, had been beaten by his masters, had run from all men's sight, but with no place to hide; then he found the hidden path, and used it. " If someone isn’t treated fair they may feel excluded which can lead to terrible assumptions sometimes making them want to run…

Humans are leeches. They try to take advantage of others, and provide little care about anyone else. They have trouble working along others, yet they can not flourish without each other. Humans struggle to get along with others without creating conflicts in which everyone can never be satisfied. Even though humans seemed to have evolved from the ancient times, we remain to still keep those instincts.…

Not So Serine Anymore Growing up on a street called Serenity Court, everything was so serene. I lived in a house on a big hill so we would never play basketball because someone would always end up chasing it down the hill. I was one of the boys growing up, as my dad would say. Every day, we would get home from school me and my three neighbors across the street would all get together and play. We would have lemonade stands, go swimming, or just chase each other around in our yards.…

When everyone has virtually the same appearance, behavior, and routine, it is easy to forget that they are humans, thus causing the process of dehumanization. Kelman claims that dehumanization causes the abuser to exclude their victim or victims from their “moral community” (Kelman 17). It is likely that this is a common yet unconscious part of nearly everyone’s day. Most people would agree that there are certain persons that are seen as being “below” the average stature, whether it be in a social or other matter. In result of this, people tend to treat those persons as if they are not worthy of the treatment shown to other humans either by saying hurtful things or by other means of harassment and therefore dehumanizing…
