The poem is about “seven” apparently “real cool” kids who should stay at “school” at this time, but instead, they “Left school”, “Lurk late”, “Sing sin”, and “Thin gin”, they enjoy “Jazz” music as well. However, I believe these lines are the narrator’s own imagination over these kids, and not their talks because normal kids at school age definitely will not talk about death, the “We Die soon” in the last two lines is just too heavy for young ones.
