“We cannot always control everything that happens to us in life, but we can control how we respond.” Writer Lionel Kendrick shows that people want to control everything but sometimes there unable to do this and have to find a way out. When people cannot control what they believe they should be able to, they face things that test them. Trials occur and people need to find a way to face these trials and either fail or succeed. This was evident in the Salem, Massachusetts Witch Trials of 1692 when people faced many test while dealing with the repercussions of the witch trials and discovering the truth behind them. Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, a play that takes place in Salem, Massachusetts, shows these test and shows what people had to go through
