Ways To Manage Behavior Analysis

Every coach, parent, or teacher have to discipline there players, kids, and students. You’re going to have students and players show up late your class or practices. Kids are going to be disrespectful at times. However there are ways to deal with negative behaviors to curb such behavior. Three psychology terms that can help one understand how to “manage” behavior are operant conditioning, reinforcement, and punishment. All players know that they earn their coaches respect if they want get playing time or even a starting position. To get the coaches respect you have to be trust worthy. Trust worthy is showing up on time or just a little before practices or games start, being respectful to the referees and visiting team, listening to coach when he or she tells you what to do. For example, if a player shows up late to practice coach might make him or her run a few laps or even do a couple sets of pushups since you were late to practice. In my own experience, I had to run until the coach told me to stop running since I showed up late to practice. When a player acts negative to the drills or just decides to goof around could affect the rest of the team. Operant does work for both negative behaviors and positive since you can rewarded someone for good behavior; punish them for bad behavior. For example, take Joe Smith a student in high school was given an opportunity. The opportunity was that if he made the honor roll he will get his own car, however, if Joe doesn’t make the honor roll Joe will have to be embarrassed since his one of his parent will have to take him to where he wants to go in the summer. This example is a good example of operant condition since Joe has the chance to be rewarded for positive behavior however at the same time he could be punish for negative
