Wayne Gretzky was the best player in NHL to ever live and there's no doubting it. He has broke so many records and has set most records. He has won the cup 4 times and played with 4 different teams. He also has coached for a couple years. He has done a lot in the NHL, hence the name ‘The Great One’.
Gretzky played from 1979 - 1999 and in between those 20 years he played in 1,487 games. Throughout those 1,487 games he racked up 2,857. 894 were goals and 1,963 were assists. Although he was known for scoring he was a great teammate when it comes to passing and being an all around player.
Gretzky won many awards throughout his long career. He won the Stanley Cup 4 times with the Edmonton Oilers. He won the Art Ross Trophy 10 times, which means he was the points leader in the NHL those years. Gretzky won the award for most outstanding player, the Ted Lindsay Award, 4 times. He won the Conn Smythe Trophy twice for being the most help to their teams in the playoffs. Gretzky won the Hart Memorial Trophy also. That is like the MVP trophy of the NHL. One being the St.Louis Blues and the other being the New York Rangers. He did not do as good with these teams. He only scored 65 goals in 3 and a quarter seasons. He has had a 92 goal season and 87 goal season, his last 4 seasons are pretty bad when compared to these 2 seasons. He was at the end of his career but he still did good.
Gretzky even played after his career was done. The Oilers and Blues both brought him back for their winter classic and heritage classic
