Wayne Gretzky Quotes

Hockey player Wayne Gretzky once said,” You miss one hundred percent of the shots you don’t take.” Wayne Gretzky is a former Canadian hockey player. This quote shows that in hockey, if you don’t take the shot you will always miss it. If you don't try you never know what will happen or will never succeed. Not trying can never give you what you want. This quote also shows, if you take the shot you have a chance of making it. This is important because if you don’t try you never know if you're going to make it, and if you do try you have a chance in making it. In my life, this quote describes the time I had an opportunity in school and in the tv show Fresh off the Boat. A year a ago I felt like the quote Gretzky describes metaphorically. We all were given an opportunity to come in before school for extra help. I had nothing to do in the morning before school, but I turn down the opportunity to come in and just slept in. The day of the test came and I had not studied the night before. I was confused on multiple questions. I …show more content…
In the episode, Eddie’s school has a fall ball. Eddie has a crush on a girl named Alison. He knew this was his shot at asking Alison to dance with him at the Fall ball. Eddie dressed with an Orlando Basketball jersey with a yellow long sleeve polo shirt and a black cap. Eddie was at first reluctant, but finally asked him to dance with her. Though this is a stereotypical scene of a guy asking the girl to dance with him, Eddie showed the opposite of this quote. Eddie took the shot by asking Alison to dance with him. He took the shot and “scored” by her saying yes to dance with him. If Eddie didn't ask Alison he would have not took the shot and would have

Individuals may choose their own paths in life, but cannot create them. In Mordecai Richler’s novel The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, the inherent and systematic adversity which those not privileged enough to be born at the top of social ladder in society must face to achieve success becomes clear. Duddy Kravitz, the central character in the story is determined to break out of a cycle of poverty and become a “somebody” to the world, but in doing so must sacrifice all morals and ethics along the way. Richler suggests that the capacity for one in Canada during the 1950’s to achieve success is defined not by a person’s talent or potential, but rather social standing and ethnicity. In reality, the “Canadian dream” message that Canadians love…

One example of this is when I tried out for the tennis team. At first, I was rejected. I was disappointed, but I knew that if I practiced as much as I could over the summer, I would be able to get on the team by the time the second tryouts came around. So, I practiced as hard and as frequently as I could, and sure enough, I got on the team. If I had given up when I had first hit a setback, I wouldn’t be playing tennis with all my teammates right now.…

Shortly after the bell rang I headed to my big classroom filled with my classmates in it. I quickly sat down and tried to keep myself relaxed from the thought of failing the test.…
