Crayons are something that kids use daily, and they probably wonder how they’re made. What makes the color rub off of them? How is each one labeled the same way? It all starts in a factory. Crayons are made from a combination of different waxes. The main wax they use is important because it is cheap and it melts very easily. It is also ideal because it has something in it that makes it rub off, and it leaves just enough wax on the paper. The wax is melted to 62 degrees celsius and then a powder is added to help strengthen the crayon. Chemicals are then added to the wax to keep from sticking and to help with the rub off. After that, the wax is tinted with whatever color that they are making the crayon. That mixture of wax and chemicals is blended
