The article argues that Nixon on met the minimum requirements during Watergate (The Washington Post Co., 1973). On April 17 Nixon made an announcement on the severity of the Watergate situation, stating that he had serious concerns (The Washington Post Co., 1973). Dean Burch was an assistant to President Nixon (The Harvard Crimson, 2016). There was an editorial published by the Chicago times which called for the removal of Nixon as a result of the Watergate scandal (The Harvard Crimson, 2016). It was unfortunate because the Chicago tribune was a highly respected newspaper (The Harvard Crimson, 2016). The tribune reflected on remarks that Nixon made in the transcripts that he was not the man that they perceived him as (The Harvard Crimson, 2016). The tribune coined Nixon as being less of a man in private contrary to when he was in public (The Harvard Crimson, 2016). Dean Burch disagreed with these statements (The Harvard Crimson, 2016). Burch stated that that the president’s remarks in the transcripts were that of a president who was searching for truth (The Harvard Crimson, 2016). Burch contended that the president acted in a manner that was justifiable to position of such power (The Harvard Crimson, 2016). Corruption and politics had been connected by Americans and further associations were established during the summer of 1974 (American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research, 2016). The Watergate scandal was of a serious nature because many Americans identified corruption in the Nixon administration (American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research, 2016). The amounted evidence during the investigations warranted Richard Nixon’s removal from office (American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research, 2016).
