Water Vs. Sports Drinks

Water gives the body essential nutrients and properly hydrates it. While exercising, the body loses a large amount of water that needs to be replaced(source B). Replacing lossed fluid in the body with water is a better idea than a sport drink because water is what is already in the body. Water is also more quickly lossed while exercising than normal activity. It helps regulate the body temperture, transport oxygen and nutrients, and dispose of waste(source B).

Sports drinks are preferred by more people for the taste. These drinks contain carbohydrates and electrolytes which is helpful to replace if one's exercise lasts longer than a hour(source B). These drinks should be more carefully chosen because of the amount of sugar that some drinks
