Water Polo is one of the hardest sports you could play each player has to go through mental and physical strain when playing. Yet it can get very confusing for someone watching with the calls that are being called. This report will give you give you a quick overview of most things water polo. The earliest we have known about the modern game of water polo was in the early 19th century and the man behind it was William Wilson. Wilson called the game “aquatic football” which had a little bit of each sport wrapped up in one. The first game that ever happened along the banks of River Dee in Aberdeen,Scotland. The rules are very simple and are easy to follow. One rule there can only be seven players in the pool for each team. One goalkeeper and six in the outfield in the pool at all times.Also there can only have six substitutes throughout the entire game. A goalkeepers is the person that tries to block the ball from going through the next to get a point for the opposing team. Next there are people called drivers they are very fast swimmers and have very good hand eye coordination because they shoot most of the goals. There is one more position to play they are called the utility they play all of the positions from goalkeeper to driver. Even the people that try and block the other team. Another rule is players can not have their feet touch the bottom of the pool they have tread water the whole time. A technique most all of them use is called egg-beater. You can do this by having your knee up and then move your foot out to the side and then move out and around.this is a lot more effective than normal treading. The next rule is each team can only hold the ball for thirty seconds before shooting. If they go over the thirty seconds than the other team get possession of the ball. Next the players can swim with the ball in front of them or throw to another team mate,but they can not just hold it while moving at the same time. However it's still possible that they can play but there are many changes to the game to fit to them. The players may play with inner tubes or with aqua joggers. They may be playing in chest deep water instead of the pool being very deep. The rules may change just a little to help them. Like if they are deaf than they will adjust to what they need.There is also more rest time for the players so they don’t get to physically tired. Theses are just a few changes that can be made to help people with disabilities play this great sport.
Sport etiquette is very important in all sports. Now for Water Polo it mostly the same for all sports. There should be no dunking people under water that is consider a foul which you will be asked to leave the pool. No bad mouthing the other team that's common sense. Next would being a good winner and a good loser. You don’t want to bragg and than call the other team a loser because they lost. Then you don’t want to be bad mouthing the other team for
