Creative Writing: Water Buffalo

It was a beautiful day in the jungle, and I was admiring how his golden coat looked in the sunlight. But, the harsh sunlight also makes my throat dry. I decided to go down to the watering hole and get some water. On my way there, I saw Water Buffalo working for a strange animal I have never seen before. He didn’t have claws, fangs, or even beautiful Golden Fur. Water Buffalo is the only animal in the jungle I am afraid of. It didn’t make sense to me that the mighty Water Buffalo, whom even I was afraid of, would word for such a small and weird animal. The small animal was making Water Buffalo plow the fields. I waited there until Water Buffalo finished his work for me to go ask him what he was doing. “I was working.” was the simple response …show more content…
Soon, Man will give me his wisdom, so I can make Water Buffalo work for me, and I’ll be the mightiest animal in the jungle. After a couple of hours, I started to think Man had betrayed me. As the sun started to set, Water Buffalo walked by my tree. “Tiger, what happened to you?” Water Buffalo asked cautiously. “Man is going to go get me his wisdom.” I said proudly. Water Buffalo just shook his head and walked away. After Water Buffalo walked away, I realized he was getting hungry. Eating just one of the Goats wouldn’t hurt, right? I turned my head, and realized I was tied to the tree very tightly. He tried yelling out to Man, so he would hear him and come back. After a while, it looked like man wasn’t going to come, so he tried pulling the ropes, so he could break free. But, the more I pulled, the more the course rope dug into my coat. After a while, I finally broke free of the ropes. I looked around for a minute, trying to find the goats, but I couldn’t see them anywhere. I yelled for Man again, but I knew he was long gone, as were his goats. More importantly, where was my wisdom? Well, I don’t have wisdom, but I still have my claws, my fangs, and my beautiful golden coat. After all of the pulling, I was thirsty, so I decided to go get a drink of water. When I got to the lake, I looked at myself in the reflection, and saw black stripes all over my golden coat! I screamed at the horrible reflection, gathering the attention of the animals nearby. There rushed over, wanting to see if anything is wrong. They all laughed when they saw the horrible stripes on my fur. The only one that spoke was Water Buffalo. “Hey Tiger, I like your stripes!” That just made all of the animals laugh harder. Embarrassed by my new stripes, I hid in the shadows, not wanting anyone to see my singed fur. I’m still looking for my

Change is a reoccurring concept in our lives. Weather we like it or not, we cannot stop it. The Giraffe by Mauro Senesi is a prime example that people do not always react the change the same ways. In the novel, ‘the boys’ were faced with having to be courageous, accepting and determined in order to save the giraffe. Similarly, these are qualities we use in our everyday lives.…

    Three Day Road Summary

The reader sees that Xavier and Elijah have killed many buffalo, however this can still be contrasted to the extermination of the forest animals by the Hudson’s Bay Company. Niska describes this desire and how it “[has] instilled in the Cree a greed for furs that nearly wiped out the animals” (Boyden 90). The syntax and amount of detail used in the two passages, create a juxtaposition between the hunts: the description of Xavier and Elijah’s hunt is well developed, whereas the Company’s hunt is given one short but impactful sentence. Xavier’s hunt is described in positive words like “whooped” and natural words like “swaying” and “bark” to reinforce the Cree’s connection with nature. While the Cree have the ability to kill animals in large quantities, they only do this when they are forced to survive, and even then, they waste no part of the animal.…
