His father decides that instead of his original plan, Jon will study nuclear physics. Later in his story when he does become a physicist, he’s a part of an experiment involving an “intrinsic field subtractor” which uses radiation to ultimately disintegrate objects. We see them looking at their silverware with confusion as it begins to magnetize and the room and the begins to shake. Directly after this and the camera points towards the same silverware as it attracts to each other with energy the same color blue that we saw on the walls . The energy being the color blue is to let us know that Dr.Manhattan’s presence is going to be made or that he is already present and has yet to reveal himself. The camera then goes back to to the medium close shot to show the characters in panic, but this time reveals even more of the color blue to us by showing us multiple blue chairs behind the characters that the shot is focused on.
