WASP-12b, a planet that is a staggering 871 light years from earth, is currently being eaten by a star. This hot jupiter has come so close to its sun that it has begun to deteriorate and even become egg-shaped because of the extreme gravity. It is also one of the hottest planets currently known to man at 2,525 degrees celsius. The orbit around its star takes only 26 hours in contrast to our 365 days.
