A trip to the zoo is always enlightening as no matter how long ago it was we last visited we can always forget something about the animals that live this world with us. Going to the zoo can remind us that we are creatures just like these animals, but also remind us that we are so much more than just animals. Our lives on the surface seem so much more complex than the primates around us, however if we could take the time to observe the lives and the emotions of the animals around us then maybe we can learn who they are, and maybe who we are. The primate that I picked was a mongooses lemur, native to Madagascar.…

I did not physically go to a museum for this assignment, but I did do the virtual tour of the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. When I started the virtual tour of the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, the Rotunda room is where I first experienced. Seeing only the giant elephant in this room, I moved onto the Mammal Hall. Seeing all of mammals from around the world was very captivating and informative. Of course I know enough about mammals to know which country some of them conquer and roam, but seeing them all together made me realize how many interesting creatures there are in this beautiful world.…

While in the zoo we were instructed to choose one exhibit in which we would sit down, observe, and take notes mainly focusing on the way people interacted and reacted with the animals. I chose the Reptile Exhibit in particular because I wanted to see the reactions and behaviors of people to reptiles and amphibians in comparison to other mammals such as cats and other mammals as such. I found that the atmosphere in this exhibit was a lot different than others. From the time I walked in, the atmosphere was more calm and the people were slightly more quiet compared to other exhibits. People were still talking but there wasn't as much energy in the room.…

The fall season this year is much hotter than any other years, but the weather did not keep me from packing my lunches and camera for my trip to the Los Angeles Zoo. Since I took all my courage to take this chance and request one day off from work, I had high expectation for this trip. I prepared the lunches on Sunday night so that it would lessen the time for preparation on Monday, the actual date. Departing at 9 o'clock in the morning, it took about one-hour driving and half an hour parking until I get to stand in front of the entrance with the sign saying "LOS ANGELES ZOO. " My friend must have been a little tired of dealing with my craziness over the idea of getting away from the city's loudness, but to me, it is like an adventure.…

When we got there all the animals were fully awake and active. We started on the monkey trail and all we saw at every corner were monkeys swinging in their play cages. My favorite part was when we went to the orangutan exhibit. One of the orangutan literally rolled his way from one end of the exhibit to the other end. Earlier this year I saw on the news a baby hippopotamus was born at this zoo.…
