Washington Irving, wrote the story, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” Many people have come to know this legend that tells the story of Ichabod Crane, the main character who disappears. Washington Irving does a good job in creating a ghost story, since no one really is able to know the ending of the story. He leaves it up to the reader to decide what happens. In addition, Washington Irving’s story has since been created into a movie called Sleep Hollow. According to a movie review by Roger Ebert, “It is not, titled "Washington Irving's Sleepy Hollow," perhaps because the story has been altered out of all recognition from the Irving classic” (www.rogerebert.com).
