How do your seminar related talents, knowledge, skills, interest and / or avocations make you an excellent choice as a participant?
My seminar related talents would make me an excellent choice as a participant because I know when the time is right. When it’s time to bond, I bond, when it’s time to pay attention, I listen and pay close attention, when it’s time to speak, I gather my thought and speak my mind. As a participant one of my skills is to think beyond the limit. I have a big imagination, and think deeper than the surface problem. As a participant I’m interested in becoming a well-rounded person. Also becoming a better citizen for my country, and by being more informed about politics is a great way to continue that goal.

Thank you so much for taking the time to talk with me yesterday. I really enjoyed our conversation and learning some more about Jefferies. It was also great learning more about the Generalist Program, which I believe helps associates to find a group where they will fit the best, without having to decide upfront where they want to be.…

The 117th Founder’s Day Convocation can best be described as motivational. I was inspired by the speaker’s message which articulated that we should not defer our dreams. She said, “If we have a dream, we have a vision.” She challenged us to be like the founding fathers and see our visions to the end. She stressed the importance of not giving up even when things get tough.…

When I visited George Washington my sophomore year of high school, I instantly knew that your school is where I wanted to go for college. It just wasn't like any of the other colleges that I had seen before, and for that matter it was unlike any I have seen since. I saw that GW is in a beautiful location and that its presence in the capitol greatly enhances both its value and the city’s around it. I really liked walking around the campus, as it was extremely vibrant. I saw that safety is also important, and the combination of security that holds jurisdiction in this area is extremely reassuring.…

The event was held October 16 at the PASSHE Center City campus, located at 701 Market St in Philadelphia. This event was a PowerPoint presentation with a question and answer format at the end. The SIDC event’s main focus was sharing the importance of the relationship between digital technology and how it has the ability to influence socio-political change. The SIDC’s goal is creating a successful program that demonstrates the effectiveness in how people of different cultural backgrounds can work together to build better societies.…

I had a lovely experience during the socratic seminar held in class. Prior to this seminar, I have participated in one in my Earth Science class. We had the guiding question of “Should we mine the moon?” and the class period went similar to ours. I personally adore public speaking when I am well prepared, so my contributions were out of pure enjoyment.…

It was the end of junior year when Wieman nominated several people, myself included, to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security in Washington D.C.. I had never been to the East coast so I jumped at the chance to go. It was extremely costly but strings were pulled and I actually came up with the $2000 tuition. Although it broke my wallet, it was by far the best six days of my life. I had an amazing journey and the destination was nothing to sneeze at either.…

Joining the New Visions program was one of the wisest decisions I have made. When nurses that I shadow at Unity Hospital express how jealous they are that they didn’t have a program like this when they were in high school, it reminds me to take advantage of this opportunity that not every student receives. I am confident that when I graduate college, I will be able to recollect this program, and how it led me to be successful. I will reminisce about the long hours dedicated to each college-level assignment in determination to receive a grade in the high 90’s, or that moment when I witnessed a five pound baby be born from a cesarean delivery, or even when I stood next to the operating table observing a total knee replacement surgery, while the surgeon and nurses took the time to teach me about what they were doing--an opportunity that not even college nursing students were able to see. Every assignment I completed, conversation I had, and person I met, has transformed me into a more educated and open minded student.…

For the last few weeks our class has been discussing what it means to be a discourse community as well as what it means to be a part of one. I am writing this paper to impart upon the fellow students in our class, as well our professor that I not only understand the meaning on a discourse community but that I also have been a full-fledged member of one myself. To further verify the extent of my membership I also am able to show the ethos, logos, and pathos that I encountered while within my discourse community over the past year. The discourse community in which I was a part of was show choir, the varsity choir at my high school. It was my junior year in high school when I decided that I wanted to join and at the time I did not know how to join and decided that I should I ask director how to do so.…

Through the course of my internship I feel I have become more confident in my career path. I have found that unlike many of the options I have focused on in the past teaching and working with children day after day is something that I do not tire of, in fact I find myself constantly enjoying it. My worldview seems to be unchanged, the impact of my internship seems to be been a more personal one. With that in mind I am able to look at my value set once again and reassess what I found to be true about myself in the beginning of the semester. It’s not how my values changed over the course of time, but more so how my time at the internship has changed how I feel I can apply my values in this new setting.…
